It’s now April and this time last year we were putting the cover on the pool as it was so warm; today that seems a little optimistic.  But the hedgerows are beginning to show their vibrant spring green colours and the pear blossom is at what we call ‘mouse ear’ which means that it will soon be in flower.

Spring here at Brenley and the woods, roadsides and gardens are full of  flowers, bluebells and wood anemones under the acid green canopy of the woodlands; white and pink scented blossom and the wonderful perfume from the wisteria on the front of the house, coupled with a dazzling display of tulips in all shades  of pink in the rear garden.

The breakfast menu moves into lighter meals, poached egg with asparagus or scrambled egg with light cream cheese and chives fresh from the herb garden.

The rooms are light and spacious and include fluffy towels and bathrobes, luxury toiletries, an extensive hostess tray – and all the usual extras you would expect.  If you really can’t leave the laptop behind or are traveling on business we have WiFi broadband for your convenience. Our breakfasts are the subject of many comments in the visitor’s book.  As we use home grown and local seasonal produce, the menu changes frequently to include such delights as toasted muffin with rocket, poached egg and hollandaise or crispy bacon.  Of course we always have the old favourites, for few of us have a proper cooked breakfast in our own homes these days.

With a resident vegetarian, that option is never a problem and other diets can be catered for if you give me advance notice

Brenley is an elegant, early Georgian farmhouse on a traditional Kentish working farm. Situated amidst the hop gardens, orchards and paddocks, yet with easy access to the many attractions the area has to offer. Whether you come for a short break to take life at a more leisurely pace, or a longer stay to explore the delights of Kent, we have something for everyone.

The mediaeval town of Faversham and the historic cathedral city of Canterbury jostle with the quaint seaside town of Whitstable and beaches of Margate and Joss Bay. With castles and gardens, zoo parks and bird watching, shopping or supping the local beer from the Shepherd Neame Brewery in Faversham, you can do everything - or nothing. Just relax in the garden or take an easy stroll around the farm, woods or nearby shoreline, or why not play a round of golf at Boughton Golf Club (Pay and Play) which is only a mile away.
